HOP IN Oy – General Terms of Service

By accessing, registering for, or using the HOP IN application or website (www.hop-in.fi), you agree to comply with these Terms of Service. Registration creates a binding agreement between the user and HOP IN Oy (Business ID 3355387-5, hereinafter “HOP IN”).
Use of the service also requires acceptance of the HOP IN Privacy Policy.

2. Nature of the Service
HOP IN is a digital platform that enables organizers to publish and offer activities, hobbies, events, and other leisure-time services.
The platform may include the following user roles:
- Participant (consumer user)
- Organizer (association, club, company, municipality, or other organization)
- Municipality acting as a license customer and/or content publisher
2.1 Role of the Platform
HOP IN operates as a technical platform.
HOP IN is not the seller, organizer, or contractual party of the activities or events listed on the platform.
Any agreement regarding participation in an activity or event is made directly between the participant and the organizer.
The organizer is solely responsible for:
- the content of the activity or event
- pricing
- taxation and accounting
- insurance
- compliance with applicable laws
- safety of the activity
If HOP IN itself organizes an activity, the same responsibilities apply to HOP IN as to any other organizer.
3. Registration and User Account
Users must provide accurate and up-to-date information when registering.
The user is responsible for safeguarding their login credentials and for all activities performed through their account.
HOP IN reserves the right to suspend or remove a user account if:
- these Terms of Service are violated
- incorrect or misleading information has been provided
- the service is used unlawfully or improperly
3.1 Acceptable Use
Users agree to use the service in accordance with applicable laws and good conduct.
Users may not:
- publish illegal, offensive, or misleading content
- use the service for harassment, discrimination, or abusive behaviour
- use the service in a way that may harm the platform or other users
HOP IN reserves the right to remove such content and take appropriate action when violations occur.
4. Minors
Users under the age of 13 may use the service only through an account created by a parent or legal guardian.
Users aged 13–17 may use the service with the consent of a parent or legal guardian.
By registering, the user confirms that these requirements are met or that the required guardian consent has been obtained.
5. Fees and Payments
The organizer determines the price of the activity or event (“activity fee”).
The total amount paid by a participant may include:
- the organizer’s activity fee
- a HOP IN service fee
The service fee is clearly displayed before payment is completed.
5.1 Payment Processing
Payments are processed through the Stripe payment service.
Payment flow:
- The participant pays through Stripe
- Stripe transfers the activity fee to the organizer
- HOP IN receives its agreed commission and service fee
HOP IN does not store payment card information and does not act as the payment receiver in its own name.
Payments are processed according to Stripe’s terms:
HOP IN reserves the right to modify the service fee by informing users within the service.
6. Cancellations and Refunds
Each organizer determines their own cancellation and refund policy.
HOP IN provides the technical capability to process refunds through Stripe if the organizer decides to issue a refund.
HOP IN is not responsible for refund decisions or refund processing.
The HOP IN service fee is non-refundable unless required by mandatory law.
7. Content and Intellectual Property
All platform content, including software, structure, text, images, and logos, is owned by HOP IN Oy or the respective content owner and is protected by intellectual property laws.
Organizers are responsible for the content they publish and must ensure they have the right to use and publish such material.
8. Marketing Rights
Organizers grant HOP IN a non-exclusive, royalty-free right to use the organizer’s name, logo, and publicly available content added to the service for:
- marketing
- communication
- references related to the HOP IN service
HOP IN will not use such content in a misleading manner or materially alter it without permission.
9. Data Protection
HOP IN processes personal data in accordance with its Privacy Policy.
HOP IN acts as the data controller for user accounts and the technical operation of the platform.
Organizers act as independent data controllers for personal data processed for the purpose of organizing activities or events.
Organizers may process personal data within the HOP IN system solely for the purposes of their own activities.
10. Limitation of Liability
HOP IN does not assume responsibility for the content, safety, or execution of activities organized by third-party organizers.
HOP IN is not liable for damages arising from participation in activities or events.
HOP IN does not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation of the service.
HOP IN shall not be liable for loss of data, technical disruptions, or similar issues arising from the use of the service.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, HOP IN shall not be liable for indirect or consequential damages.
Any potential liability of HOP IN is limited to the amount of the service fee paid by the user for the relevant transaction unless mandatory law provides otherwise.
11. Duration of the Agreement
The agreement enters into force when a user account is created and remains valid until terminated.
Users may stop using the service and delete their account at any time.
HOP IN may terminate or suspend an account immediately if the Terms of Service are violated or the service is used unlawfully.
Inactive accounts may be deleted after 12 months of inactivity.
11.1 User Categories
The HOP IN service includes several user categories. In addition to these general Terms of Service, specific terms may apply to certain user groups, such as:
- participants (consumer users)
- organizers (associations, clubs, companies, or other organizations)
- municipalities and other license customers
Such additional terms may be presented in separate agreements or appendices.
11.2 Municipal License Accounts
Municipal accounts operate under a separate license or service agreement between the municipality and HOP IN Oy.
This agreement may define terms related to:
- license fees
- billing
- contract duration
- termination terms
If the municipal agreement conflicts with these Terms of Service, the municipal agreement takes precedence.
12. Force Majeure
HOP IN shall not be liable for delays or damages caused by events beyond its reasonable control.
13. Changes to the Terms
HOP IN may update these Terms of Service. Users will be informed of changes through the service.
By continuing to use the service, the user accepts the updated terms.
13.1 Service Development
HOP IN continuously develops the service and reserves the right to modify:
- service features
- user interface
- functionalities
- technical solutions
without prior notice.
14. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms of Service are governed by the laws of Finland. However, mandatory consumer protection laws of the user’s country of residence may apply.
Disputes shall primarily be resolved through negotiation.
If a dispute cannot be resolved through negotiation, it shall be submitted to the District Court of Kajaani, Finland, unless mandatory law provides otherwise.
